MAKE GIVING A PATTERN
In Japanese there are two words for giving, agemasu and kuremasu. Agemasu is used when you are giving to someone. Kuremasu is used when someone is giving to you. MASU embodies all forms of giving.
From gifting to giving back to our planet and local economy, MASU’s commitment to giving goes far beyond pretty paper.
THE MASU STORY
Libby was looking for wrapping paper that matched all of her values. She had a hard time finding paper that was 100% recycled, recyclable, made in America, AND had great designs. She combined her surface pattern design skills and values to create premium, eco-friendly paper goods with designer patterns that are made in America. MASU paper looks, feels, and does good.
MASU’s distinct designs start with Libby Hampel’s hand or digital drawings. Pen, marker, ink, and paint are her analog mediums. Her digital mediums are an iPad & Apple Pencil and an iMac. Artistic and tech savvy, she finds joy in both mediums.
Authentic and transparent. Strong and empathetic. Focused on quality and connection. Paving our own path. MASU is playful, thoughtful, and bold.
USA ALL THE WAY
To support our community and reduce our carbon footprint, we source as close to home as possible. Paper for greeting cards and wrapping paper is milled in New Hampshire. Greeting cards & gift wrap are printed & finished in St. Louis by a 100 year old, family-owned, environmentally responsible company. MASU is located in upstate New York.
LUXURIOUSLY GREEN
All that glitters isn't good. Papers with glitter, flocking, foil, sequins, and certain coatings are usually not recyclable. MASU shines with its artistic designs, distinct color palettes, and commitment to the environment.
Our wrapping paper is the only premium coated, 100% recycled sheet made in America and has a velvety smooth finish. Greeting cards are uncoated cardstock paper with a lovely smooth finish. Envelopes are 100% PCW recycled, recyclable, and American made. Our blue envelopes are made from cotton & denim textile scraps, which diverts those scraps from the landfill.
All of MASU’s packaging & shipping materials (from our boxes to our labels and their adhesive) are 100% recyclable and plastic free.
ABOUT LIBBY
Hello and welcome! I'm Libby Hampel, the founder of MASU. I have fun and take immense pride in designing playful, thoughtful, & bold paper goods that look, feel, and do good. Studies show that consumers want eco-friendly goods, but if they aren’t aesthetically pleasing, let’s be real, they won’t buy them. I create eco-friendly paper goods people actually want to buy because of my colorful, distinct designs and premium recycled papers. I support my fellow Americans and reduce my carbon footprint by having my products, packaging, and shipping & marketing materials made in America. With 40% of plastics being for single-use purposes and less than 10% of plastic produced being recycled, I'm committed to MASU being a plastic-free business. Me and my products have been featured on The Today Show, in Stationery Trends, Gift Shop Plus, various gift guides, and more. I value authenticity, transparency, and humor. Iced lattes, cooking, dogs, and 90’s country music are close to my heart. Greenwashing burns my bum. I'll never stop talking if you ask me about it.
Now let's have fun!
