As a consumer and business owner I loathe Black Friday and always have. My family has never been into the sales & hoopla. We wanted to spend time together, not go buy things we didn’t need just because they were 50% off. As a business owner I hate all the pressure that comes with it. HATE.IT. with the fiery passion of seven hells! 🔥
I listened to the Ultimate Product Party podcast the other day and Allison said Black Friday isn’t for small businesses. Whew! That hit me like the iron falling on Marv's face in Home Alone. She said it’s for the big stores like Target, Walmart, etc.
As small business owners, we can't compete with their daily and/or weekly deep discounts. This is true over the holidays or any time of the year. Big box stores do not put the care & thought into their products and business practices like I, and other small businesses, do. I care DEEPLY about my production partners, vendors, the quality of my products, and great customer service. I also value my talent as an artist!
I worked in an Apple store for six years. On Black Friday we were probably the least busiest store in the mall. Why? Because people know Apple doesn't have sales. Apple knows their products & customer service are top notch and all the people who work for Apple deserve to be paid and treated well. I was paid well, had awesome benefits, and received a lot of training for all the positions I had.
Soooooooo there will be no Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday sales ‘round here partner. What you will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS get from me, *double pinky promise*, are high quality products made and shipped with HEAPS of TLC from the MASU kitchen.
I NEVER EVER want you to feel pressured to buy from me. “Do what you can do when you can do it” is a favorite saying of mine. Whether you by from me once, frequently, or never, I really appreciate you being here.
